XXX Post (and another chair)

I wrote previously about X's and how they're pretty much always sexy. They're a staple in design that seems to defy trends, but the pieces that best embody them almost always seem extremely expensive (i.e. Barbara Barry).

Now Z Gallerie has introduced the Alexis chair. Clever, huh? Alexis - it incorporates the X and it's not a big jump to see the word sex. It's only (only being a relative term) $699. I have some concerns about the quality, but it is sexy, and I've always been the kind of guy who goes for style over substance. Who cares what's underneath the surface if it doesn't look good, right? I hope you're not agreeing with me, because I'm just BS'ing.

Personally, I'm a big believe in buying an expensive sofa and then accenting with less expensive chairs. I've found that a bad sofa will show its age quickly (they're no furniture botox for sagging pillows and wrinkly fabric.), but that an inexpensive and lower quality chair will hold up for far longer. Buying lower cost chairs also enables you to change them out every few years, recoup part of your investment on Ebay and keep your look fresh. If you get bored easily like me, this is a key benefit.

Have you purchased Z Gallerie furniture? If so, what are your thoughts? Has it held up well? Maybe I'll take a chance. I could use some sex in my house.
