Finally, someone has broken the predominant cozy coffee house aesthetic that Starbucks best examplifies. You know that look - fireplace, earth tones, big leather chairs. Starbucks went from being the stylish gay uncle to the matronly great-aunt, smothering me with unwanted hugs and pulling me into her great big bosom. Enough!
I can't remember if I ever liked that style. It's difficult to believe now, but I think I did once. Let's face it, no matter how well-designed a space is, it's hard to really appreciate when it's not only predictable but ubiquitous and literally everywhere from Target to the airport.

That's why I so love the Coffee Studio, Andersonville's latest "third place". It's perfect situated a few blocks north of the Starbucks at Clark and Berwyn. I love the mix of materials (which manage to offer a sleek, modern and comfortable environment). And the coffee's good too. Enough said, right?
