Mid-Century Flickr . . . Dining Set and Office

Flickr member Melt has done a great job putting together a mid-century dining table and chairs. Her experience proves that you can get a matched set by seeking individual pieces (and at a great deal). Here's what she says about her set:

"i've been without a dining room table for nearly a year now, scanning my local antique and thrift stores for a danish modern style table within my budget, along with ebay. i've had these jens risom chairs for years, purchased for $13 apiece in an atlanta thrift store, but i only had three, so i was using them in my living room and was looking for a complete dining room set. just before christmas, i found an identical jens risom chair on ebay for only $25 and knew that i had to have it, since finding a solitary table was much easier."

I'm also in love with her office setting (worthy of a magazine shoot, don't you think?)

Mid-Century Flickr . . . MidcenturyJo's Credenza

This photo comes from midcenturyjo who writes the great blog Desire to Inspire. She's done an incredible job rehabbing an old mid-century credenza (which cost her $39). I'm in awe and feeling a bit stupid about all the large purchases I've made during the past two years.

Keep sending in your before and after photos, and they may be featured in an upcoming post.

Here's the finished scene. BTW, she made the lampshade. Great job, Jo!

Mid-century Flickr . . . Eames Stamps

Each day, we'll look at Flickr and show you how its members use mid-century furniture or design in their lives. I came across these stamps this morning, and while not officially a Flickr "photo", the image is a great way to kick off Mid-century week. I'll be stocking up on these.
