SG Grand (ain’t it?)

Debra Phillips had successfully owned and operated Scentimental Gardens in Geneva for nearly 20 years when she recently opened SG Grand, so she was all too familiar with the amount of effort it takes to run a thriving business. Sure, it might have been easier to rest on her laurels, but the prospect of getting in on the ground floor of the Grand Avenue design corridor (an overnight smash hit sensation*) proved too exciting to resist. As it turns out, customers can’t resist SG Grand’s unique blend of vintage, salvaged and new – the softer side of salvage. The amazing vintage French table with built-in stools (photo below) literally makes my heart beat faster. And how about using salvaged antique register covers as accent tables? Their narrow footprint makes them the perfect size for smaller urban apartments. And there’s much, much more. Check out SG Grand.

That lamp is pretty sweet.

This noir-ish vignette reminds me of my favorite 80′s show Moonlighting. Off topic: did you see Cybill Shepherd on Oprah last week?

This table makes me want identical quadruplets – truly the perfect accessory.

Canton, Ohio must have been some place.

Edging into steampunk territory, and I like it (mightily so).

I love this, but I think it needs higher ceilings than mine. Little known fact. The domain higherceilings.com is still available.

I’ll bet she can’t keep these in stock. Perfection.

I saw that table with the attached stools and had the same reaction! Loved this shop! But I feel equal affection for the other shops on the Grand corridor with so many quirky, fun and unique objects and furniture. This strip is making it into my “Must go often” weekend shopping trips.
From what I saw during Design Harvest last weekend, the owner of SG Grand has a very good eye. I thought the shop was well-curated.
