Richard Norton Antiques

Rumor has it that legendary twentieth century interior designer Frances Elkins kept her clients’ keys and would drop in unannounced to make sure that no liberties had been taken with her meticulous and thorough interior decor. It’s the kind of brilliant tidbit I inevitably pick up when visiting my friends at Richard Norton Antiques. Founded in 1933, Richard Norton is one of the oldest businesses in the Merchandise Mart and employs a knowledgeable staff with a genuine curiosity about antiques, which is really quite infectious. Their passion also shows up in the gorgeous showroom, which illustrates over and over how beautiful and dynamic antiques can look when careful attention is paid to placement, accessories and color. Although located on the sixth floor, Richard Norton Antiques is open to the public, and I highly recommend you visit for a top-notch retail experience. While you’re there, be sure to visit the amazing Richard Norton Gallery, which is located in the rear of the space.
