Wow! The new West Elm catalog

Being figured out – sized up – is a mixed blessing. For example, the other night after ordering Indian food, the restaurant called back to ask if I’d forgotten to order the Sag Paneer extra spicy like I normally do. How considerate! Yet how annoying that I’m so predictable. That’s sort of how I felt when I finally flipped through the new West Elm catalog – that somebody had figured me out. It was like they reverse engineered my carefully cultivated aesthetic and then presented it to the world as beautiful, mass produced components priced as low as $2.99. (Seriously). And let’s face it, they’ve put everything together far better than I ever could. From the dark paint colors on the walls to the clean lines and the orange chair (I love orange!), it was as if the good people at West Elm put together their latest collection with me in mind (or at least my demo), so their catalog will undoubtedly lure me into their new Lincoln Park showroom. While buying from a big retail chain will never replace the pleasures of browsing a quaint little shop or haggling with a flea market dealer, as the new West Elm catalog illustrates so well, the results can be just as pretty.

I actually have this small bust used to style this Totem pillow cover. In fact, there’s a tiny photo of it on the far right sidebar. → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → →

These framed silhouettes by artist Mike Miller are the kind of accessory that will scream West Elm for two or three years max. Once West Elm discontinues them, the public will quickly forget, and from the point on, they’ll be a source of endless complements. If you’re anything like me, you’ll never tell.

Hi, here I am reading highlights from the West Elm catalog when I have 8 – 500 word articles to write for my customer for today at 5:00. Just shows the endless fascination of the West Elm selections. I love the oval lamp hanging over the dining table. Looks a bit like birch bark – so “Canadian”. My other must-have from your highlights is the long narrow multi-shelved sofa table in the living room photo. My books and eclectic knick-knacks could be very happy cohabiting thereon.
I Love the ORANGE chair too! It offers a bit of ahem…zest!! Draws you in doesn’t it?
Wow Carol! Eight articles? Thanks for taking the time to take a break and comment!
I’m drooling over that rustic console table in pic #5 and those tripod tables are fun! May have to stop by and get those soft alpaca pillows when I’m in the area checking out the Vintage Pine Sidewalk sale this Sat.
