Gallery Tour: Elizabeth Coyne Contemporary Art (Sawyer, MI)

While dinner at Elizabeth Coyne’s Sawyer, Michigan gallery was delightful, no visit would be complete without taking some time to contemplate her work. Elizabeth has operated the gallery since 2008, but she’s made her living as an artist for the past 25 years, earning a MFA in painting from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. Elizabeth says her paintings are a kind of “visual cartography,” which map her thoughts and experiences. To help her mark the territory, Elizabeth has developed, “a personal invented language of images and symbols based on the natural world.” She has exhibited her paintings in solo shows throughout the country, and they are included in public and numerous private collections, including that of Crate and Barrel CEO Barbara Turf. Representing herself and a handful of nationally recognized artists, Elizabeth Coyne Contemporary Art is a must-stop for art enthusiasts, designers and consultants visiting Harbor Country, Michigan.
