Open House: Frank and Sue’s Forest Park place

The sign that welcomes visitors to Forest Park says Big city access, small town charm,” says Sue Haas. “So corny but true.” Indeed, there’s a great shopping district just a few blocks away, and you can see the public park across the street from the enclosed front porch of their stylish, two-story dwelling. The park has a swimming pool, which Frank and Sue’s three and a half year old twins Samson and Frida enjoy very much during the summer, but there’s also plenty to do indoors during cooler months. Frank and Sue converted the only bedroom on the first floor into a dedicated toy room, and there are dolls and brightly colored plastic pieces scattered throughout the house. Why not? It’s the twins’ home too. But it takes more than toys to stimulate toddlers. In the dining room, an upright piano, child-sized art easel and desk share space with the dining room table and chairs, and a small framed Tony Fitzpatrick collage hangs in the corner, just one of the many pieces of art hanging throughout the house. It’s no surprise that creativity takes center stage in their home. Frank is the Art Director at the uber-cool, fantastical Redmoon Theatre, and Sue worked at the ultra chic furniture showroom Holly Hunt until the twins were born. Now she dedicates her life to the toughest job of all – raising brilliant, creative kids. By the looks of things, she and Frank are doing a great job. Thanks Frank and Sue!

  1. A lovely house for a little one to grow up in. Wow, what a Barbie collection! Me, though, I’d like the rocket picture above one of the twins’ cribs, shown in photo #18.

  2. I love Redmoon Theatre and this house.

  3. I’d swipe the black wicker chair with the green cusion.

  4. I love that rocketship print in the kid’s room! Definitely would’ve wanted something like that in my room when I was a kid.
