Crestani Ceramiche (behind the scenes post with special crash anecdote!)

Crash. It’s pretty much the last thing you want to hear in a ceramics studio. But while snapping photos at the family-owned Crestani Ceramiche in the spectacular countryside of Vicenza, Italy, I felt the back of my leg brush up against something and then . . . crash. To make matters worse, we had just arrived and hadn’t even met the owners yet (which made for an awkward “how do you do”). Fortunately, the folks at Crestani were very gracious, but they would have been justified in putting me to work. Crestani ships ceramics all over the world, so they create pieces in many different styles and with many glazes. One of my favorites was a ceramic bow tie, which I saw later that week in a shop in Venezia’s glamorous San Marco shopping district. I think it’d be a fun piece for the right party. What do you think?

Great stuff. That cobra could sure liven up a party!
Aw, come on, eh! What exactly did you cause to go “crash” and what sort of fee did they hit you with for the damage? Not fair to leave us hanging like this…
Please, please, I need a soft turquoise or lavender ceramic bow tie to wear with my summer cocktail dress and jacket.
