Now at NYC’s Nest Interiors: Planters (Scenes from a Park)
Believe it or not, I didn’t have enough time to cover all Manhattan’s shops during my week-long trip. Who knew there were so many? For the most part I stuck with my itinerary, but I couldn’t resist Nest Interiors, which beckoned me siren-like with its beautiful front window. Perhaps I just needed a taste of fruit forbidden; the shop was closed every time I walked by (’twas maddening, I tell you. MADDENING!!!).
Finally I got lucky (plus the shop was open), and I was pleased to find that the book’s as good as the cover. The shop features an odd but luxe-y assortment of home accessories, art and photography.
Loyal readers I present exhibit A, a series of planters made with the theme, Scenes from a Park.
Continued . . .
“What’s going on here?” I wondered as I peered at one in particular. I squinted and bent down for a closer look. That was not a double entendre.
“Oh my.”
Then I spied the full frontal photography, and my interest in the shop grew. How exciting! What happened to picnics and baseball?
We need more shops like Nest, which isn’t afraid of Decoratus Absurdum. Art, literature and drama have always included humor, the macabre and sex (as does life); why not home accessories?
