Open House Update (Don and Jackie) . . . Jackie’s Art Installations
Artists Don and Jackie Seiden have lived in their Rogers Park Victorian for thirty years, during which time they’ve transformed the space into equal parts home and giant art installation. While Don creates and displays much of his art in the coach house, Jackie uses the house itself as a canvas.
Her suitcase vignettes, which bring to mind the famous shadow box artist Joseph Cornell, are unusual, whimsical and quite beautiful; staged throughout the house, especially in the basement and attic, the art installations speak equally well for themselves or in concert when displayed as a group.
Most impressively, Jackie devoted an entire room to commemorate a play performed by her grandchildren during a visit from their home in London. The result seems more permanent yet far more temporary than a photograph or a video recording.

About Jackie’s work—somewhat fascinating but mostly terrifying!
Coolest story EVER.
I doubt there has ever been a dull moment their lives.
I think this installation is complex and rich w/amazing color, fabrics, and interesting textures. IT IS NOT TERRIFYING at all- someone needs to brush up on their art studies. Art is complex- especially when it’s well done. I love it!!!!!!!!
The colors are drop dead gorgeous! If one’s gut reaction is terror, what’s studying got to do with..got to do with it?
