Behind the Scenes of Ve’s s’l Magnifique (upcoming Las Manos Gallery show)
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to cover a TOP SECRET behind the scenes artists meeting for the upcoming Las Manos Gallery show Ve’s s’l Magnifique. All I can say is, wow! Ohmygod. The event really opened my eyes and what I saw made me very excited but also very . . . concerned.
First of all, artists and designers aren’t really supposed to get together in one place like that because if a truck crashes into the building or something, we’re all basically screwed – no more art, no more nice decorating schemes. I think they do the same thing with the President and Vice President (or the VP as I call him, unless I’m trying to fit in with the kids in which case I say the Veep. You say it really fast. Veep. Faster yet. There ya go.)
Secondly (kind ladies and gents), all the creativity in one place leads to all kinds of craziness . . . all kinds. Just ask recent Open House subject Susie who was also there. We couldn’t believe our eyes.
Continued . . .
But you need to check out this show, which brings together the art and design community (something that doesn’t happen as often as it should) to raise funds for TPAN. If that’s not enough to convince you to put March 13th at 7 p.m. on your calendars right now (go ahead, I’ll wait . . . tap, tap . . . tap, tap . . . . ready?), then do it for the children. The artists involved are going to document the process and create a guide for teaching art to our children, our future.*
Here’s the relevant info:
The collaborative show is designed to create a dramatic interpretation of the object extraordinaire, the ve’s s’l. The following artists will be contributing pieces for this show:
Laura Soskin, Larry Vodak, Tricia Rumbolz, Bladon Conner, Frank Fruzyna, Chuck Meyers, Michael Del Piero, Michael Mc Guide, Ted Harris, Norbert Shimkus, Dave Soskin, Ellis Wallace, Denise Odell, Joe Boudreau, Lucy Slivinksi and Michelle Peterson-Albandoz.
A portion of sales plus donations will be donated to TPAN.
March 13th at 7 p.m. Andersonville’s Las Manos Gallery. 5220 N. Clark Street. 773-728-8910
* Our children are the futur . . . oh crap!
