Meet some of the talent behind Andersonville’s Mightybytes, a “full-service creative firm that executes design-driven communications solutions.” From left to right: Jose Medina, Whit Nelson, Joy Burke, Tim Frick, James Johnston and Travis Chandler. I had the pleasure to meet this good looking crew at their holiday party, and I loved their work environment in a former apartment above a Clark Street storefront. After the party, I asked founder Tim Frick to quote me on getting the new Strange Closets up and running.
Some of you have asked me why I changed the format for Strange Closets. Honestly? I was tired of seeing the disappointed look on many guy’s (and some gal’s) faces when they realized I wasn’t Caroline Scheeler* (whose photo was meant to show readers where to click to see past interviews) and two . . . well, that’s basically the only reason; I needed a better way to organize content.

But even after I finally found a template I liked, the process still seemed overwhelming. I had no clue how to transfer everything from Blogger to Wordpress, I was overwhelmed by the very idea of finding a hosting provider (which was really the easiest part) and the act of modifying the template’s source code** to actually resemble Strange Closets . . . let’s just say I spent many an evening curled up on top of the dryer rocking rythmically to the spin cycle while sucking my thumb.
Enter Tim Frick and his web development company Mightybytes. After meeting Tim at a party I basically begged him to meet for coffee to butter him up for a good deal (as if the coffee I bought would guilt him into dropping his rate). Imagine my surprise when kind Tim looked at me, patted my head and proceeded to spend the better part of an hour simply convincing me I could do it myself. “Yes you can”, he said. And as it turned out, he was right.

Tim’s one of those guys everybody likes (everybody). He’s a teacher, a friend and a good citizen). Mightybytes works with a number of corporate clients, but they also work with theatre companies, artists and others who don’t have big bucks to spend. It’s the mix that makes the work rewarding and attracts the talent and personalities that make the company so special. Tim Frick has put together an excellent team – very chill, very kind and most importantly for their clients, very good at what they do.

Cool digs and a cool company. Keep these sorts of profiles coming. It’s good to know this sort of creative company is around in the neighborhood.
